Tom Olmstead formed The Olmstead Company in 2009 after 40 years of leadership and management experience as a senior executive in the project management, commercial real estate, and strategic planning fields. He retired from the US Air Force as a Colonel(S) after a 20-year career in design and construction, and then transitioned to a successful private sector career. The Baltimore Business Journal recognized Tom as a “heavy hitter.”

Tom directs projects from concept through completion in facility and project management, commercial real estate, and strategic planning for competitive industries, cutting-edge markets, and fast-paced environments. He develops emergency response plans to minimize the impact of natural and man-made disasters, and provides training so clients can respond quickly and correctly to emergencies to minimize damage.

Tom helps clients better understand the utilization of their facilities and campuses, and how they can expand in the most cost-effective and efficient manner. Client satisfaction is Tom’s number one goal.

Prior to founding The Olmstead Company, Tom was President of Laguna Construction Company, Inc., a Native American owned business. He turned around this faltering company and restored profitability by establishing strong management controls and financial accountability systems. His major accomplishments included the closeout of construction projects in Iraq and increasing current contracts. As Vice President for Government Programs for Opus Corporation, Tom created a national platform for government projects by establishing the company’s credibility in this new area, assembling highly effective teams, devising strategies, and quickly winning contracts. As Executive Program Manager for Parsons Infrastructure & Technology, Tom directed their government business development program.
